As Valentine’s Day is coming near, shops and roadside stalls are selling a vast array of valentine cards, making valentines feel spoilt for choice.
Bookshops have also created a valentine-friendly ambience at their shops with red embellishments in the corners and romantic songs playing in the background. The greeting card association estimates that approximately one billion valentine cards are sent worldwide each year, making Valentine’s Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year.
The most popular valentine gifts are roses and chocolates while many couples also schedule a romantic dinner date to mark the day.
The history of celebration of Valentine’s Day in Pakistan is not long, as it had started barely a year ago and overtook the young urban people along with creating a controversy among the conservative section of society.
